Traveling to foreign counties

Take special care when traveling overseas

Most people fear traveling to a destination where they do not speak the language. It's a justifiable fear after all - How will you communicate? How will you ask for assistance? How will you read street signs? Menus? Train stops?
It can all be rather daunting, but by following a few simple suggestions you can have a much better time.

Most people appreciate the effort to speak their language, even if you do it poorly. Imagine how you would react if somebody came up to you in the street and started speaking to you in a strange language. When you make an effort it goes a long way.

Buy a phrase book and learn some essential phrases for your trip:

  • Where is...
  • How much...
  • Thank You (very important)
  • Please
  • Excuse me
  • I speak little (language)
